BIO

Kyriaki Ioakeimidou was born in Thessaloniki-Greece, where she took her first voice lessons at “New Conservatory of Thessaloniki” (Ch. Glavopoulou).  Later she earned her BA in classical Singing-Music Education (A. Zeller) from the "University of Music and Performing Arts- Graz-Austria”. Subsequently, she studied Opera Performance and classical singing at the “State Conservatory of Thessaloniki” (K. Karatza) and continued her voice lessons in the studio of Ch. Glavopoulou. Later she earned her MM in “Vocal performance” (W. D. Coleman) from Georgia State University-Atlanta-USA.

She attended various masterclasses and opera workshops with distinguished singers and Stage directors, where she has performed amongst others, the roles of Drusilla (L’ incoronazione di Poppea) and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas).

She won the 3rd prize in the NATS competition (South Eastern Regional 2016) in the Adult Women category. She appeared as a soloist at the presentation of the first German-language biography of M. Theodorakis by H. Hermann. She participated in the recording of “The Ten Commandments” by J. Haydn commissioned by State Radio Austria (ORF) as a member of “KUG Chamber choir”.

Her latest performances were with the Wind Orchestra of Musikverein St. Radegund on Arias and duets from "La Traviata" and "Gianni Schicchi" and at the “Harrower Summer Opera Workshop” in the role of the Foreign Woman (The Consul).

She enjoys teaching and has been a rapporteur at the seminar for music educators:  "Vocal Placement and Singing Performance", organized by the Regional Educational Center of Thessaloniki.     

 

She also holds a degree in Harmony (N. Solomonidis) and Piano (S. Mourtzou) with distinction and an award for exceptional performance from “Modern Conservatory of Thessaloniki”, as well as a BA and MA degree in Classical Piano - Music Education (C. Perai) from “University of Music and Performing Arts- Graz”.

She has been also performing as a pianist and has attended numerous seminars of piano and music pedagogy. She has worked as a piano professor in the Music middle-high school and in Conservatories in Greece, as well as in Musik schools in Austria.
